72 - 74

1. Remove the distributor.
2. Remove the pick-up coil mounting screw.
3. Remove pick-up coil from the up­per plate.
4. Position the pick-up coil on the pi­vot of the upper plate and install the mounting screw. Do not tighten.
5. Insert the wires into the appropri­ate retainers in the distributor.
6. Install the distributor.
7. Set the air gap.

75 and Later

1. Remove the distributor.
2. Using two small pry-bars or screw­drivers (maximum 7/16 in. wide), pry the reluctor off the shaft from the bottom.

   CAUTION
   Do not damage the teeth on the reluctor

3. Unfasten the vacuum advance-to-distributor housing screws. Re­move the vacuum unit, after disconnecting the arm from the upper plate.
4. Unfasten the pick-up coil wires from the distributor housing.
5. Unfasten the two screws which se­cure the lower plate to the distributor housing. Lift out the lower plate together with the upper plate and pick-up coil.
6. Separate the upper and lower plates by depressing the retaining clip on the underside of the plate and slide it away from the stud. The pick-up coil will come off with the upper plate; they cannot be separated; they must be serviced as an assembly.
